hey,<br /> again my 72 125 evinrude... got thing to go into neutral.. starter blew. put 3 new ones on it won't turn motor over..... took lower unit off and motor spins over faster.. with lower unit on motor goes.. turn............turn..........turn..............<br /> without lower unit... turn..turn..turn<br /> whats wrong??

Bummer! The upper driveshaft bearing may be toast. They seem to be the first to go. (Could be any of them, though.) It's right under the water pump, so it has a good chance of rusting either by water leaking down from the water pump, or condensation inside the gearcase settling on it.

E12OB....without the water pump, you should be able to turn the driveshaft between the palms of your hand. If ya' can't, there is a problem in the gear case.

It does turn easily... it starts put its hard turing over. put it in the water today and it started to over heat.... seems i don't have the water tubes hooked up... any secrets??
