I'm not sure how new it is. I think it's been on the market a while. At first I thought you were talking about the 4 blade that I believe has different design whereas the blades opposite each other are different that the set that are 90 degrees . Concerning the 3 blade I don't know what's new in the design. Maybe others will chime in. I've generally heard good reports, however with maybe a few quality control issues.
