Hey guys, I have changed my mind on stainless and decided to get an "aftermarket" aluminum prop due to the areas that I boat in. Does anyone here have any knowedge or experiance with the turning point "hustler" props?

They appear to be pretty well designed and also are the only aluminum prop to have PVS holes. I would assume that I could go with the same size and pitch in their prop as I have on my boat now....

Re: Turning point "Hustler" props?

I liked the ones I've ran on my boat. I ran a 14X13 Hustler, and a 13 3/4X15 Hustler on my 60hp Johnson that was mounted on my 15ft trihull. We skiied behind it. Neither prop had vent holes from the factory, I vented the 13 3/4X15 out to 5/16 ports to get the kind of slip I needed to pull up a slalom skiier behind that small of motor. Both props had good bite and didn't ventilate as easily as the factory props I had been running. Seemed like the rpms were just a little lower than I expected, but they seem to be a good prop for the money. I got both of the ones I have right here from Iboats.

I had great luck with these props on both boats that I have had. I use the 21 pitch prop on my current setup, a 94 Merc 5.0 and it will run faster than my Rev4 SS prop. It is a great prop, and for the money you can not beat them.

Ordered one yesterday morning. Glad I did now. Hit some rocks on Lake Oconee here in Ga yesterday and chewed the edges of my stock aluminum prop yesterday afternoon! perfect timing I guess....

Re: Turning point "Hustler" props?

I have a 90 HP Yamaha on a 17' Xpress Bass Boat. I am currently running a 13.25 x 19 pitch "Hustler" aluminum prop. This is the third prop that I have ran and it is definately the best! It is a great prop, and the ventalation holes help my hole shot tremendously. I was running a 17pitch stainless before, and when I went up to a 19 Alum. I only lost 100 RPM's. Which was very suprising. I am assuming this was due to the light weight of the prop and the fact that I have a Jack Plate that allows me to manipulate my RPM's a little more than you would be able to otherwise. Anyway, I believe you will enjoy the Prop.

Hey Dennis,

You will be pleased with the Hustler. I was running a 21"er on my boat(18' w/ 4.3LX) before I invested in a shifting prop. That hustler is much better than the original Merc prop that came on it. Improved Hole shot. Higher top speed by 2mph without an increase on RPM and much better bite in turns. I still cary it as a spare, and I run it whenever we go to "new" water.

Got the new prop in, heading up to lake hartwell to fish in a few minutes. Stock prop data, me and both kids, full tank of gas and full fishing load. 43 44 mph and 5100-5200 rpm depending on which way I was going on the lake.. will update what the turning poinnt did tonight.....hopefully after I clean some fish! LOL

Okey..back from the lake. 13 1/4x23p tuningpoint aluminum prop. RPM's only 4800, speed was average of 40. Going to take advantage of their "exchange" program tomorrow and get a 21p. Hole shot was better than with the stock prop. Should be much improved with the 21p. should get a little top end back with the restored rpms I think.

Handling was great with this prop as well...

What pitch was your original prop?

"factory" prop that was on it was a 12x23p Pretty sure I lost RPM's due to the added diameter and the larger cup on the blades of the turning point prop.

Called Turning point yesterday, they are shipping me a 13x21 to try. GREAT people to deal with by the way. Ann in customer service and Andy in support were phenomenal. Gave them my credit card number to secure the 2nd prop on and they shipped it yesterday, I have 2 weeks to test it and send one or the other back to them.

Re: Turning point "Hustler" props?

Got the 21p in friday and ran it yesterday. one way on the lake, just me and my son ran 5400 rpm...redline is listed at 5250...and only about 37 mph. on the way back with a full livewell we ran 5300 and 36 mph.. Looks like I may keep both props...one for when its just me or me and him..the other for playing and fishing with the family.

Somethin's not add'n up here. even if your gear ratio was 2.3 you would still be gettin' 30% prop slip.

What engine, drive and gear ratio do you have?

Are the speed numbers from GPS or the dash unit?

Got my Turning Point Legacy prop in the mail today [Same Prop as Hustler] except the new hub design allows me to swap out Mercs, and Michigan's. Can't wait to see what it can do. :D

Re: Turning point "Hustler" props?

Hello ddennis

Just found this thread...

If it was me, I'd be dissapointed abot these results... ... but I wouldn't conclude the TP was a bad prop. I think the diameter has much more effect than people give it credit for. Adding 1" dia. seems big for a 75 hp engine, especially when going to a more agressive prop. Ideally, I would guess you would want a 12" x 22" (same or similar diameter, a bit less pitch to compensate for the more agressive design), but alas, such an animal doesn't exist.

I'm glad you're happy with it though!
