Here's my quandry:

I am buying a 19 foot bowrider and will trailer it. I live on a busy road, so backing in my driveway is not an option. If I pull in driveway I will need to turn the boat around so when I go boating agin, I will not have to back out on to the busy road.

Gee it would be great if I could turn the boat around by hand (using the wheel on the hitch), but my driveway is bumpy gravel. Someone suggested my lawn tractor, but the weight may be too much. Perhaps an inflated tire instead of a solid one?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Howdy BB.

You don't say what your tongue weight is or what sort of lawn tractor you have.

Any lawn tractor that can handle a 300# driver should have no trouble.

yeah, I'd go along with JB on that one..

I will add that the wheel being solid or inflated will not make a huge amount of difference..

What would make a significant difference is the diameter of the wheel..

rgds

Frank

Thanks for the tips! You don't think my lawn tractor will pop a serious wheelie?

I don't think your lawn tractor is made to move a 3000 pound boat and trailer around unless it is really a tractor and not a craftsman riding mower. The little wheel on the trailer jack is just for supporting the boat and maybe moving it around a little to get it on the hitch, most of them will fold up if you put to much stress on them.

My marine shop uses a little John Deere riding mower with a 3 point hitch to move boats around his yard and in and our of his shop. I don't know what the exact size is but it looks like a good sized lawn tractor. I have seen him move some pretty good sized boats with it (24ft+). An ATV with a hitch would also work.

Is it a tandem trailer??

The problem I find with my tandem is I cant get it to pivot in one spot.
Meaning I cant grab the tounge by hand and spin the boat 90 degrees. The double set of wheels wont allow it.
That prevents me from parking it under my carport. :(
