Re: Turning

Best thing would be to post pics of your steering system so people can see what you have and recomend a fix.

Re: Turning

One more time the motor turns to the right and to the left to easy. The steering is Teleflex rotary doesn't seem to be a place on it to tighten it up, thought there might be a place on the motor.

Re: Turning

If it's a Bayliner check under the steering wheel there should be a hand tightening bolt, If not it may be missing. Look for the thread hole.
What type of boat do you have?

Re: Turning

Riptorn is right. Both the bayliner, and Maxum have it. It's a 2 inch long plastic kinda wing nut that screws into the bottom of the steering column. Clockwise to tighten, counterclockwise to loosen. They do fall out and it may be laying on the floor or under the dash compartment.

Re: Turning

It's a Tracker Pro18 my old boat had a adjustment screw under the steering wheel but this doesn't. But that one had rack and pinion this has Teleflex rotary. I was hoping there was some place on the motor 1996 75 hp Force that could put more tension on the ease of turning. Thanks

Re: Turning

Hey Eazzy. Looks like your Teleflex is not equip with this feature. Read from there support site:

Friction adjustment is not a standard item in our steering kits and is not available for Rotary Systems. If you have installed a non-tilt “Back Mount RackHelm,” order Friction Kit part number 3953114P.
NOTE: If you have any NFB system (Rack or Rotary), a friction adjustment device is not required or recommended.
