I took the maiden voyage on my 87 trophy yesterday and neither engine will exceed 2800 to 3000 and she pings with new (super) gas .

are the props stock? do a decarb and then take compression readings. If both engines have good compression and are behaving identically then it narrows the range of probable suspects.

could you walk me through a decarb i read about it last week but dont recall everything. I took her out last night adjusted air /mixture screw 50% improvement she went higher and up on plane . One engine still wont idle and appears to have a miss at low rpms. that miss dissapears at higher rpm although she still runs bad and pings.

What kind of speed are you getting? That low of RPMs probably wouldn't plane the boat. I wonder if the tachs may be calibrated wrong. Those motors prefer regular unleaded.

Thanks guys i ordered decarb from marine supply.Upon futher investigation i found no spark<br />from 2cylinders I have no continuity from the leads coming from stator .I will replace stator . Blow out carbs and decarb my motor. If that doesnt work consider yourselves invited to a bayliner trophy with force motors SCUTTLING party location to be announced. Where is the best place to drill the hole?

if you hunt for your stators outside of the marine world and in the automotive/industrial world then you will find the identical part for 1/3 of the cost. That's one of the nicer things about pre-1991 Force engines. Chrysler did all the engineering and set up all the contracts.
