I've always noticed a bit but it struck me this morning on the way back from Put-in-Bay. Two weeks ago I filled both tanks (75 gal. each) Today the starboard tank is between 1/4 and 1/8th tank. Port is at 1/2.

Where do I begin to look?

Stating off simple, could be the tank senders. Maybe fill both tanks again and see what it takes to fill them.

Do you have an engine 'Sync' gauge? If not, get one. You may be running the stbd engine with a tad more throttle open. At higher RPM you would not notice it on the tacho....

In an attempt to find a running problem last season we removed the sync. Could being out of sync by a few hundred RPM cause that much difference in fuel burn?

Absolutely. A couple of hundred revs means considerably more throttle, that means fuel. BTW, dash tachos are not accurate enough to run twin engines. They can easily be a few hundred revs out. I have the gear to check tachos, and my friends' tacho reads 900rpm when the engine is actually doing 650rpm....
