Re: Twin battery set-up in pictures

My busbars are connected to the batteries but should it be the switch that they are connected to as opposed to the battery?

Im even more confused.

The black wire (from now on is negative) is connected to the black (negative) and looped to the second battery

Sorry bud, yes I would connect your buss bars to the perko switch.

yes the black wire should be connected to the negative battery post.

I find it interesting that you took my response as shouting. As it was as pleasant and polite as can be.

I will unsubscribe from this thread. Best of luck to you.

Please don't. Everyone is trying to help and it is appreciated.

Here is the update.

Heatshrink has been ordered. Positive cable for busbar has been taken to the switch.

Engine turned over first time.

So now we have a new question.

What should my O/B output be? I used a multimeter after the O/B was running and output is 12.85 I dont know if that volts, amps or whatever. Is that correct for charging or is my alternator goosed?

Oh a few additions. The boat is trailered. The music is from an Ipod but a stereo is a possibility :)

That would have to be volts. If that's the maximum voltage reading, something is wrong. However, at what engine speed did you get this measurement? My outboard doesn't start kicking out a charge until it hits 1000 RPM.

Re: Twin battery set-up in pictures

As I run the engine on muffs the O/B is at minimum revs to prevent damage to itself. I was instructed to operate the O/B in this fashion at all times when on muffs.

My tacho is goosed so if anyone can provide a link from fleabay for a 12v tacho that is inexpensive then please do :)

It never worked from the day I bought the boat and starts at 1500 revs increasing to 3300 at WOT. Thats why I know something is wrong with it. Resetting the poles on reverse side and trying to adjust it doesnt work. Everything is a guestimate but a friend was out the other day and reckons I go as fast as his boat. Everything is identical between us.

Cheap stereos that are waterproof, yummy lol.
