I'm looking at a 42' Uniflight Motoryacht with twin Crusader 454's that have 800 hours of running time on them. The engines look good but I'm having a mechanic do a compression test on them prior to making an offer. I've always wanted compression tests on my outboards to be at least 100 pounds with all cylinders within 10 pounds of each other . Does this hold true for these Crusader's. Can anyone tell me what good compression numbers would be? What about the 800 hours? Is that too many hours on these engines to start with? Thanks for any help or advice.
