Twin OX250 98', both have milky lower gear oil

I change the lower gear oil twice a year. This past time I did not let the boat seat before I changed the gear oil (to see if water comes out first), so I thought it would be milky or white/grey color, since the boat just was running at 35 knots for 30 min. However, here is my question, I have the oil in two separate clear jars, the oil/water/air is not separating. I even moved inside out of cold, no difference, it is still milky, white/grey no separation, no water collecting on bottom of jar. It sure is not changing back to gear oil color, or look like gear oil. So any ideas, I will have it pressure tested. I can not remember if I used yamaha gear lube or penz gear oil or some other brand, I may have some combo of oils in there (I reuse my applicator pump jug), does that make any difference to color etc. after use? The oil has about 70 hrs on it from mid summer. Thanks...for any info.

get the pressure/vacuum test done and move from there. the oil combination could be causing the color. only use yamaha or merc synthetic oil in those gearbox's, ive never had a problem with either.

Thanks will do, the yamaha I do not think is synthetic. Would you recommend going to synthetic for those engines lower units. I have heard positive things about how the synthetic gear oil can handle a little water better than the reg. oil?

water is bad no matter what. my shop uses merc synthetic excluseively in yamaha outboard gearboxs and we never have problems with it.
