Hi all, so I have a fun little project that involves two 6hp OMC’s (1968 Evinrude and 1976 Johnson) on a 14’ v bottom. I just wanted to try and make a twin tiller system work and it actually does pretty well so far. I know just dropping the two 6hp for one 10hp would do the same, but it’s a fun little project. Anyway, I have a good simple connection for steering both engines, however I’m still trying to find the best way to connect the throttles (I just operate the throttles separately). I tried linking by a cheap universal throttle cable (for something like a lawn mower) but wasn’t stiff enough to operate the second engine. So, the more I thought about it, I figured a simple sprocket system on the tiller handles may work better. I thought of a stiffer throttle cable, but being the engines are about fifty years old and the throttle components are quite small on a 6hp, I don’t want to throw a huge cable on and break the accessory throttle connection or something. Any thoughts?
