Two issues: trim goes up but not down and neutral sticks

1994 Larson, volvo penta 4.3 GS. The trim will go up but wont go down. It seems to work intermittently and I was able to go out yesterday. Could it be the relay? I dont know where the relays are so I can replace it.

Also when I started the boat to go home the neutral button stuck and I couldnt get it into gear. After some fiddling it popped out by itself and I got home but I'd rather not deal with that again. Taking out the button I saw a large nut with the hole in the middle. Do I need to take it out to get at the pin or something?

Thanks Don! Turns out it was a bad relay. Found them pretty easily. Replaced it and bought a spare to keep on board.

Now I just have to figure out the neutral switch issue. Any ideas?

If I take out that nut, is the mechanism inside loaded by a spring? I'd be happy to take it apart and clean/oil the works but if it's spring loaded I'd never get it back together.

I have no idea what control you have, nor do I have any information on them for repairs. Trust me. there are hundreds of kinds of controls out there.
Volvo typically used Teleflex controls, you might try their site for manuals if you can find one like yours. http://www.teleflexmarine.com/products/controls-and-cables/
The place is really hard to find anything in, so good luck.
