Hi, all I will be mounting a 70hp Force to my old boat soon, but have had absolutely no luck finding the center of the boat when Ive done this twice in the past 10 years. I have a safetmate 16ft. I tried measuring across the transom and marking the middle as my "center" and this had lousy results with the motor pulling. I repeated this some time ago, trying to draw a line up the transome from the keel centerline, and this result was better but still is not centered, as even the cavitation plate adjuster tab could not take all the torque steer out. How the heck do I get this right??

Also, I had the the floor replaced several years ago but a lousy budget repairer who simply through paint over the bare wood and I have decided that Id like to correct this. Trouble is I need to get underneath to correct something else that he did. What is the easiest way to cut out floor? What saw do you all use to cut floor near joint with hull without cutting into the hull?

Thanks a million!

my guess a fiberglass boat

post a pic

however its been covered a hundred times. set the blade depth on a circular saw about 1/16" deeper than the thickness of your deck and start about 4" from the edges.

lots of info in link 14 in the DIY sticky

The torque steer problem can be eliminated by use of a tilt and trim. As you get up on a plane trim the motor out and the torque will go away. The OB motor is centered on my boats and they have it too as do others.
