Hi Paul. Some time ago my nieghbor gave me a Minnkota, two speed motor (no reverse), that developed a whopping 8 lbs. of thrust. It worked great for my small boat. I suppose the one you have may become useless in the future, at which time you can give it to some kid just starting out. Have fun. DuPont
