Have seen many posts and opinions on this subject, most of which lean toward the OEM oil or Walmart supertech. Have not seen much discussion about brands in the middle. I made a decision to use Exxon Superflo TCW3, it is priced between Supertech and Quicksilver leaning closer to the Supertech price. There is a statement on each bottle of Exxon oil saying "they will pay for engine damage related to oil failure..." Have never seen such a statement on any other oil. I feel comfortable with Exxon and that statement, am looking for input from the rest of you outboard Xperts on what you know about superflo oil, or oil in general. Had an article in saltwater fishing magazine this month about 2cycle oils, rambled on for a couple of pages and concluded by saying its up to you. What a waste of paper and ink...

Ahoy, GrandX! What a great opportunity for a good argument.

After carefully considering everything I know for sure about 2 stroke oils and everything that has been settled by past arguments on this forum, I have a position statement:

It's up to you, as long as it is TC-W3 rated.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Ahoy, JB. Was that your column in Saltwater magazine??? By the way, the Tuna are showing up in the gulf, both black and yellow fin. Will try my hand at them Sunday if the weather holds.

GrandX,

This is OT but I was wondering, are yellow and black tuna as good a fight as say blue fin tuna? What are the average sizes of tuna that you catch?

Jacques, never caught a bluefin, but it would be my guess that they all fight equally for their sizes. Blackfin generally go 15-20 lbs, Yellow's up to 300 lbs, Giant blues in the 1000's. Mostly blackfin for me, a few yellows but none over 40 lbs yet. Maybe that will change Sunday.

Have to agree with J.B.

-If its TCW3 rated, use it. Any of them.
-I talked to the 'Kahuna' at the esso refinery. He said they pour their oil into many different jugs. They conform to TCW3 standards.
-I asked the difference between outboard and snow sled oil. Viscosity....
-TCW3 is a strict spec, so don't worry who makes it, as long as it conforms.
-As far as engine liability, they all stand behind their product........just try to collect!

:)
