type and color of paint of Starcraft Islander.

I am working on my 1989 V221 Islander and part of it is redoing the transom. So now the electronics and engines are off and waiting to be reinstalled. In short, this is a great time to repaint the stern, the color of which has been scr---ed up by the previous owner. (along with a bunch of other things).
I need to know if that very dark blue that Starcraft used for painting these Islanders is available and what it is called, the same for the white paint on the side and bottom so I can continue to restore my boat to its previous glory.
Please tell me what it is and what it is called and if can just brush it on or if it has to be sprayed. It will go over a grey self etching primer.

Alkyd enamel is all you need. Sherwin Williams and possibly others can custom mix for you, or you could get whatever the hardware store has and roll with it. Rustoleum, or like Ace rust stop, Majic paint ect….

Are you creating a show piece or just making you boat look good ? That decision and a bunch of money is the difference in the kind of paint you use.

Can you define what you mean with "a bunch of money"? If it is spending a hundred dollars as opposed to twenty, I will go with the hundred dollars.
The target is less than a show piece, but is with the intent to make it look original and last for more than just a few years.
This boat is probably my last and I want to be proud of it instead of the crappy stuff I always had to make do with.

Alkyd enamel is what SC used. You’ll spend $50 a gallon in today’s money at the hardware store. $75 at the paint store if you want the matched Color. I forgot to mention you’ll also want hardner. Or if you really want to spend some money for a notch above, you can use acrylic or urethane single stage automotive paint.

Just bought some Pettit EZ top side one part eurathane. Painted the side bunk supports first (trailer and boat the same color) to see how it goes on as this is the first time messing with a boat. It went on very smooth and glossy and I’m impressed with how hard it cured. Note the bunks were off and in a horizontal position. I did buy the hardener for when I do the boat sides. Dropped about $50 per quart.

In reality your looking at a hundred minimum to an easy grand before your done.

This boat restoring thing is something I'm really enjoying and it gives me something to look forward to seeing the end result
Being retired I finally have the time to do it at my own pace and I find myself even enjoying sanding and other boring tasks, because I finally have the time to actually take a piece of sandpaper and do the job instead of forever taking short cuts.
So let it cost a grand, I can't take it with me.

Good for you, most folks balk about spending a few extra bucks on their boats when it comes to paint and other decorative things. We enjoy helping people spend their money, so will be watching to see you spending a bunch...lol...
