I've been looking at alot of the boat restorations here and i'm wondering if I really need to go with a marine grade plywood for my floor or can I just use either a pressure treated or even untreated plywood?

Could you guys give me a hand here? Cons and Pros?

Thanks!

Re: Type of flooring

If it's an aluminum boat then pressure treated is out of the question. The new PT contains copper which reacts with the aluminum. The difference between marine grade plywood and quality exterior grade plywood is the marine uses a higher quality glue and has fewer voids in the plys. Marine plywood is not treated and can still rot. I went with exterior ply for my project. Properly sealed with epoxy it should still last a very long time.

Re: Type of flooring

Every project is different however, in most cases, a sheet of exterior plywood properly prepared-(i use epoxy, some use resin) will last a long, long time and save a lot of $$$$$$$.

Pressure treated plywood does not work with epoxy or resin

search this site for flooring answers-there are lots of detailed accounts

Good Luck
