type of oil

I have a 185 omc i/o<br />I am new to boating!!<br />what type of lube should i use in the outdrive?<br />there are a few places to put oil in it looks like? one spot i think is a little box that looks like the tilt motor?. Just want to know what to put in <br /><br />thanks in advance<br /><br />jeremy

You need a manual before you even touch it bud.. Or your going to cost yourself money.

search this this site and you will find at least 20 drives destroyed this spring from not putting in oil correctly <br /><br />more than that its just how many i saw<br /><br /><br />tommays

okay, thanks<br /><br />just checking if anyone that knows anything about OMC 185, 1978 model could help me out<br />with what is what on what lube goes where?<br /><br />My tilt motor is going down easily but sticks when its time to come up...it will just click and click and then come up, some times not al the way <br /><br />where can i get a manuel for this outdrive<br />links would be appreciated<br /><br />thanks again

little problem in the manuel ordering<br /><br />my model number is not listed on the omc manuel site<br />any help in finding out info on my OMC 185 drive?

I am confused. You talk about lube for the outdrive, then you raise questions about the tilt. 2 very different items. <br /><br />Then you talk about clicking. If it a problem with fluids or an electrical problem? If you have clicks and no pump running it sounds electrical.<br /><br />See why everyone said to get a manual?

yeah,<br />manuel is on the way..<br /><br />thought maybe my tilt motor needed lube?<br /><br />it goes down no problem and sometimes comes up first time...but often have to jiggle switch to get the motor to kick in?

If you hvae to jiggle the switch to get the motor to kick in you have an electrical problem.<br /><br />A fluid problem would be the motor running but not bringing the drive up.
