Type of spark plug wire?

Thinking of replacing the 2 spark plug wires on my motor (see my signature). I see that folks regularly recommend 7mm copper core as opposed to 8mm copper core. Is there a huge difference or specific reason for using 7mm over 8mm? Also, my local auto supply store does carry the 7mm version but it also comes in 2 different styles....Hypalon Copper Core and Aramid Wire. In the description for the Arimid it doesn't say anything about copper so I have no idea if it is a copper core wire or not. So, is one better or more preferred than the other? A little help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My spark plug wires are metal core, I do not think it is copper though... the wires look silver to me.

I'm not sure what Aramid wire is.

7 mm hypalon is what you need...unsure if 8mm would fit into the coil

At one time they made a stainless steel core plug wire, haven't seen it for awhile. Just use 7mm soild core wire, I get from my local auto parts store.

Replaced my 18hp Johnson's with ones from a marine dealer and they was super cheap for bulk wire. You may want to check prices because fancy names of the wire inside doesn't mean much. I got 5 ft of 7mm stock metal spark plug wire for less than $10!

That's a thought as well. If the wire my local Marine supplier is significantly better than the stuff at the auto supply store then I would be happy to pay the higher price. The stuff I quoted above is only .069/ft.

Yep, that's the place and the wire I was quoting and will go with. :)

If it is for a points and condenser ignition system, the original was Packard 440 wire. Most dealers have that on a roll and will cut off whatever length you need. It is not expensive.
