U-Bolt Fender Brackets

I'm currently refurbishing a trailer and the fenders that were on it were rusty and mangled. They were welded on and I cut them off. I'm looking to mount a new pair of fenders. The trailer has a fully boxed frame and I'd rather not have to drill all the way through it to mount the fenders. I swear I've seen brackets somewhere that I can U-bolt onto it. Anyone have any idea where I could find something like that?

I didn't see them on there TD. These are the type of fenders I've seen the U-bolt mounting situation used with http://www.iboats.com/Wesbar_Plasti...09609330--**********.886670154--view_id.47849 in fact I saw the exact thing I want on a Loadright trailer at the ramp yesterday. These fenders with big 'ol U bolts holding them one.

Most of my fenders attach like this:

The fender mount is no more than a short piece of angle iron drilled to fit the U bolt and the fender.

On a Load Rite trailer, the U bolts also hold the suspension carriage in place so the whole assembly moves as one.

Thanks RF! That picture was very helpful. Doing that would allow me to mount just about any fender in the manner I'd like. I just need to remember not to step on it!

While I rarely consider any of my fenders as steps, that set up is more than strong enough to hold your weight. If you want more strength and something to step on, then use C channel in place of the angle iron, with the open side down. This gives a wider area to step on and will hold a bit more weight.
Load Rite went to C channel in later models. The angle iron on my two older trailers is pretty heavy, although its only 1 1/2" wide or so. It needs to be heavy enough to be able to really tighten down on the U bolts and not distort the angle iron. Otherwise the fenders will not sit level.

My old EZ Loader had just that, a piece of 6x2 C channel on front of and behind the fender with the fender bolted to the side of it, and the C channel attached to the frame with U-Bolts. This made for a sturdy fender and a great step-up.
