Hi All,

I have a 1988 wellcraft with a 4.3 ltr omc cobra. I noticed a little leakage coming into the boat and at first i thought it might be a transom seal. I pulled the drive off last night and a bunch of nasty water came out. It looks like the u-joint bellows had water in it. If those bellows are full of water, will it leak into the boat?

The exhaust bellows are very dry, gimbal bearing looks good and the u-joints look good.

Thanks

Yes.

And into the u-joints.

And into not-so-nice places in the engine coupling components.

And maybe into the drive. If all you saw was water then the drive seals may have held up and kept the oil in and the water out. Maybe.

A drive bellows leak can sink the boat if the boat is left in the water long enough and the bilge pump fails.

You have lots of things to check now.
