U-joint / zerk question

I have an Alpha One MR drive S.N. OA706258 with a 1.62 gear ratio. Engine is a 1984 470, 170 HP. My coupler shaft is the 9-9/16, (3) O-ring type. My u-joints have what appears to be a plug on the cross pads where I would normally expect to see a zerk. The plug is really just a stud with no way to remove it (i.e. hex or hex socket). Can anyone tell me if these are sealed, lubed for life, or is there a way to remove the studs and install zerks? They're very tight, but I do see grease between the pads. I just want to do what's right while I have it off.

Thanks in advance.

Re: U-joint / zerk question

your shaft and joint assy has been replaced with a later style. totally normal from merc.
ujoints are now perma lube joints.
means they work till they dont.
the new gimbal bearings from merc are now perma lubed as well and come with a plug to plug off the existing zerk.
