"U" shaped vs round logs - Does it matter?

Round are usually have separate chambers and are usually the strongest. U shaped toons are usually foam filled single chambered units. I know I've seen alot of older u shaped pontoons that owners have installed bilge pumps into because they have become leaky.

Exactly, the main problem with the U tubes is they are foam filled and once you get a leak they get water logged and there is no way to get the foam out.

As far as how they run don't know that there is difference, the part in the water is round on both of them.
