I am replacing the helm in my 1961 Starcraft Jetstar. I purchased a Uflex no-feedback kit and my dilema is in making the connection to the motor. I have a late model 40hp Johnson that had been previously connected to a pulley system for steering.
Here are some pictures of the connection tab I have currently on the tiller arm of the engine.
I have done some research and it looks like I need a piece from Teleflex to make the connection to the cable.
Teleflex SA 27198/27199 Boat Steering Connection Kit
From what I can tell, this part is difficult to get and may not even be made anymore. So I looked for something similar and found this.
If anyone has any experience with this issue or can give me some advice on which direction to take in order to make a solid connection between the Uflex cable and the engine it would be greatly appreciated. I have a couple weeks of painting to finish before I tackle the steering if I need to have something fabricated.
Thanks - Emursed.
