I think I'm going to go with a Uflex steering system per Bob_VT's suggestion, but i have a few questions before I order one. I've never installed this type of steering system, so bear with me.

1) I did the measurements from center of wheel to edge of gunwhale (20"), gunwhale edge down to exit point in splashwell (9'), and gunwhale edge to center of engine (31")...which comes to 159" or 13'3". As per directions, subtract 8" for two 90 degree turns, add 12" for tilt tube, and round to next foot, or 14' cable. I assume I can do a tilt tube mount but have no idea what type of hardware attachments will be provided - is there any reason I would need a splashwell mount instead? (pics included).

2) It would be preferred that the steering wheel came out of the dash at a slight angle (in the picture)...I'm not sure what style of mount is provided in the package, but it appears that it's just a 90 degree mount. Is there any way to change this?

3) This kit is what I figured I'd go with, but i want to make sure it comes with the mount to receive a standard steering wheel, cables, and all hardware necessary to install. http://www.amazon.com/UFlex-Rotech-Rotary-Steering-Package/dp/B0000AXT7V

If there's anything else I should be aware of during installation or in terms of what I need to buy I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks for all your help.

I know there is a wedge kit available for the Teleflex systems (I did the same conversion on my last boat and used a wedge). I'm not sure if there is a Uflex equivalent although I think there's a pretty good chance the Teleflex wedges would fit.

Bob, the wedge kit has to do with he helm's angle in the dash. Has nothing to do with the steering tube.

Yes if he wants to change or needs the angle change (I did not with my SS)

Post a link to the kit just in case.
