So here it is, mid-July already...which means our "official" boating season is nearing an end already.. granted I keep my boat in a heated garage, so no winterization, which means if we get somewhat warm days in the winter I could take it out for maybe a couple hours, but still gonna miss these warm sunny days and being able to hang out on the boat and swim... I was always a winter time person.....until I got heavily into boating that is...

Well, we do typically use the boats for fishing well into October, but I'm just thinkin of the pleasure part i guess.. gonna be hard to get my boys and wife out there when temps are 40's at night and 50-60 during the day.. hopefully I will get to make my Lake Erie trip this Sept. As I didn't get to go last Sept... Usually me and my dad make that trip.

With the heat we have been having (mid to upper 90's for the past week, supposed to be 100 today), the water should be warm well into October..

Where we typically boat (Ohio River) the water temps actually change fairly quick due to how fast the water moves when they open the gates at the dams... Hopefully we'll have another mild winter.. last year we had multiple days almost every winter month with temps in the mid-upper 50's.

I can relate, here in Minnesnowda, I was able to ride my motorcycle at least once a month...every month of the year last year! Global warming baby! :)

There is no such thing as an "Official Boating Season". As long as you can't walk on the water you can boat in it.

I call the "Official Boating Season" from Memorial weekend to Labor Day weekend.

After Labor Day most folks are more interested in various hunting seasons and football than they are in getting out on the water. This is the best time of the year for me, little boat traffic and the fish are eating everything in sight to fatten up for the winter.
