jb is exactly correct. Sometimes you'll get a tube of cream type hardener that has separated. Just leave the top on while giving the tube a deep massage so to speak to mix up the contents inside. Then, add the appropriate amount to the bond-o or fiberglass resin. Then mix them together until it is uniform in color, no streaks or spots of color (if using colored stuff). Not a big deal and easy to tell if it is not completely mixed. The mixture will heat up as it begins to set and your working time will pretty much depend on how much hardener you put in. Too much and it will set too hard too fast. Not enough and it may not set at all or very slowly or just not completely so get pretty close to the recommended amount.

Alright guys thanx for the quick info! Mucho Gracias! I put my first batch of any knid of bondo, sooo now I know what kneading the cream is.:p My first batch put too much hardener cream so it hardened too fast second wasn't as bad but still too much. Watching ALL YOU w pics and advice has sure given me the encouragement needed, Thanx! Anyone doing this make sure u have everything ready to go down and what ur using have at arms length cuz this stuff will harden FAST! I tried to be prepaired but that's about as funny as this boat is ugly Haha:D I was filling in some holes in the hull where the p/o drilled wood screws into the bottom of the hull. I spread it into the holes from the top and then from the bottom. Bout to pre cut my f/g strand. I also have the f/g matt put the chopped strand matt down first? 2 Layers? I watched friscoboater's youtube video on how to glass in the deck. Very Cool! He didn't use the woven. I have that too. I was just gonna do the the 2 layers of chopped, then make sure it's good, then I have carpet to put down. The deck's already pre cut, so it's on! try to put pics on at half time of the HOUSTON TEXANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the color of the bondo is how you judge if there is enough hardner or too little.

it takes a little while to get used to it....

btw......i hope you are not using bondo under the water line... bondo absorbes water.

use a resin peanut butter and glass over/under.

uh oh, it's not regular bondo. I had that, & took it back & think I got the right stuff it says boat bodno. I put it on a few coner places where it took a good hit on the dock and chipped the outside coating, and under the center hull where it looks like it took a few scrapes and from wear from beaching? Maybe:confused: Hopefully I can show y guys. Gotta find camera. Oh yEAH, AND i FILLED THE 3 HOLES WHERE the other p/o went throught the flooor. I look at the can too.

This bondo is what is used in the pics. Can I get these mount brackets for the handrails? As you can see these look pretty bad. More money, gotta get more resin neways. The other black thing is the glove compartment. I'm gonna clean it up. I had to go back and cut out the little 13x8 place there in the back where the drain plug goes for some reason couldn't get past that. Maybe the grilling and watching or listening to the TEXANS WIN WOO HOO!!!

Well thnx everyone!!!! Didn't get as much done as wanted, but I never do.:( This evening want to put first layer chopped mat down. Should be no problem. Any mixing suggestions about how many drops of hardener to put in my resin? That stuff's is expensive!

Was looking at rub rails but after seeing the cost of them I'll be trying to re use the old one. I remembered woodenglass working on the splashwell of the blue flamingo gonna try to clean that up and see about priming this beast!:p So hard to do anything in the evening when you have 2 kids.

Ain't that the truth. Fortunately our 4 year old goes to bed pretty early, but then you can't do anything that makes noise! We've got another one coming in January so then I'm really going to be in trouble. :D

HELP!!!! Reading or watching a video that u should have a rounded or curve on the ply wood edges where your laying the f/g up the side. Reason, is so we don't have that sharp angle to lay on or in. should I sand the edges and then fill with peanut butter? This way I can also have a good surface to lay my adhesive for gluing in the carpet. How awesome for you and your family! Congrates on the bun in the oven! Keep'em in my prayers.:D Maybe you'll have it out on the boat? :p "BOAT BABY"

C&L, EZ

Yeh man, I'm in the sam "boat" with the kids. I spent pretty much all last weekend teaching my 7 yr old son how to use a jig saw. He traced around tools onto 1/8 particle board and then cut them out. He made them as gifts for my wife and I. Gotta love it man!!! The boat can wait.

Hey everyone just curious if anyone knows the best way to clean these rails? They also have some scratches on them. Thinking steel wool? Thanks for your help.

sorry cl.......i forgot.....are we using poly here?....im guesssing so.
it isnt drops.....unless you are using just a little bit... the ratio is 2%
i work in the metric system......i know its tough at first......but just forget the imperial system......if you mix one leiter (about a quart) this is 1000 ml so you mix in 20 ml of mekp..that is just under an ounce.
you can get a plastic shot glass with the measurements on it.....and in the bucket you are mixing in....the marks are on it.....it is really a super simple system....just about as simple as using epoxy.

sand the edges of the ply....or use a grinder.....just do it fast.....the reason for the non sharp corners...is just not to stress the contact area of the hull.
then fill any gap with peanut butter.
if you wait till the peanut butter is tacky but not cured.......you can tab right over it......when you roll it out with a resin roller....the pb will become smooth and give you a nice contour to glass to .
