the pitting on the hardware is a pita.......i didnt restore mine...i replaced them.....they are about 8 bux each. but you could try a drill mount buffer......dont use emery cloth....you will go right thru the chrome.

pic two is just a wash job.

the rails in pic 3 can be buffed up with a drill mount buffer.....and some stick stuff called rouge. we get it from princess auto.....its like your harbour freight.. but it is really farm oriented.

what the heck is pic 4?...is that a steering wheel?.....paint it

the rouge stick will buff out most of pic 5

I was trying to get a pic of the scratches and I was in the sun so I leaned over to get some shade.

Well I got about a 1/3 of deck glassed in today. Messed up the second batch of resin put too much hardener in it. That's ok I knew I was gonna have to get more materials anyways I just hate that I was on a roll. I went ahead and put the primer on this lil beaut. Went through a whole quart with ease, Glad the primer's white too otherwise I'd have to get another quart and put another coat. In some places I put 2 and it could probly use another coat but we're gonna call it good. Not real happy but It's not gonna be boat magizene ok maybe for the ugliest boat. :p I hope the top coats of paint go better. I'm sure it will. Oh yeah, the Texans lost!:(!
Thanks OOPS, yeah I got that resin like you get at auto zone. What do you use that empty glass bottle for? (Corona bottle)

Your ugly boat is the first boat like my project I have seen so far. Mine is a 1979 with a fantail and has a 1978 Evinrude 70hp. It is not in as rough of shape as yours but you have more progress on yours. I am hoping to get started replacing my fantail and front deck this weekend. It is rough with a 2.5y/o and a 7month old.

finished the paint job. looks a lot better. Still UGLY but not as bad. haha Now trying to round up the pieces to mount the hand rails. When disassembling I wasn't careful to save the old ones. Let that be a lesson, dont get in a hurry, it costs in the end. tonight try to do out line for carpet.

Ran into a small problem. Was going to use a a rivit gun to put the rub rails back on but that didn't work worth a poop. Went with machine screws and nuts. Here lies the problem. On the front port side there's some place where the rail doesn't want to line up right.

Also was wondering about the idea to hide the steering and throttle cable. Someone mentioned pvc pipe. Surely I don't want to drill ne more holes than NECESSARY right? Was thinking of trying heavy duty tie wraps? Thanx in advance for sharing your help and ideas. Todays Friday yea! We got plenty to do. My fanily is starting to get excited cause now they can see the progress.
