I have a 28 foot 1989 Bayliner 2855. Today I was doing some work in the engine compartment and noticed the transom area on the left side of the through hull was "soft". I could push the fiberglass in about 1/4 of an inch. This is the especially thick area of the transom.

At best, this is a $12,000 boat. I'm wondering how much it would cost to repair something like this. Anyone have any ideas? I keep the boat moored in the water and don't have a trailer so this isn't really a job I could do myself.

Thanks for any info.

Here's a picture of the affected area. Its the area above the riser in the picture.

welcome to the wonderful world of bilge liners my friend......

if you do it your self.....you can do it for under 600 bux.....

a pro will cost 1500-2k.

the boat has to come out of the water and it needs the motor taken out.....

then the transom can be repaired.
