It can be done, but with some difficulty and high cost. Some people do it to drift boats (A type row boat designed for shallow water in rough, rocky river conditions.) where I live, but UHMWPE is very heavy and hard to attach to the hull. Why do you need it?
It's used on some jet boats out here too, but it's sort of a new boat only type option, many places won't do it to an older boat and with the cost involved, doing it to a jon boat may not be worth it.
It's a new 18' Tunneljet G3 that hasn't been in the water yet. I will be fishing in rivers so I want to protect my investment as well as making it better for the rocky conditions.
I live on a river and use jet boats all the time, my buddy has a G3 with a jet that keeps at my place part of the year. The water I travel in can be very shallow and while I could imagine there would be a benifit in some situations, I don't know if the cost and exrta weight would be worth it. In the 6 plus years I've used my current jet boat I can't recall a single time when it would have helped. Each river system can be different though and on some it may have more value.
