In the early 70's a friend of mine and some of his friends went to a swimming hole he with which he was unfamiliar. They all ran down a small dock and jumped in the water while he was parking his truck. To make him think the water was deeper than it was, they were standing on their knees with the water up to their necks. When he came down, they told him to jump in. He didn't jump, he dove. Head first. He broke his neck and came up in the classic "dead man's float" face down. His "friends" thought he was joking and proceeded to kepp pushing him underwater until they realised he was really hurt. They carried him to his truck and put him in the back, drove down the bumpy dirt road, and took him to the hospital.

The last time I saw him, he was in a wheelchair with a metal cage which rested on his shoulders and screwed to his head.

Some joke, huh?
