Ok heres one to share ther unreal questions people will ask you when you are selling your boat. Heres mine:

So im selling my 26' carver Santa Cruze the add reads New 350 chevy, turn key ready to go
And here are some of what people have asked me:

Is it a diesel motor?

Turn key? whats wrong with the key?

Does it run?

And the #1 funniest!

Does it have sales!

everyone of these is true within the last two weeks! WOW!

Lets hear yours!

is that a 2667? if so, what year? I have an 80 that I'm fixing to advertise... I need to build a cabin entry door and hatch for it first tho.... I have the peices of the hatch but the door is missing completely. I could sure use several real good photos and maybe some measurements of the door if it's the same....

I sold a Starcraft 15-foot Capri a couple weeks back on CL. The guy who bought it was boat savvy, but some of the other people who inquired about it were clueless! Boat was pictured without a motor, I mentioned that it did not have a motor in my ad, but I had a guy ask me if the motor ran!

"Hi,
We're interested in your boat. We live in Rhode Island. When can you bring it here so we can test drive it?"

Rhode Island is an 8-hour drive.

That and much more is why I sold my boat through a broker.

Yes, I had to pay him, but I didn't have to listen to any BS and he weeded out all but serious prospects.

I'm giving away the 27'er in my sig and got this gem the other day.

title ?? good work motor ??? boat with trailer want free ??

Keep in mind the ad states the motors are incomplete and trashed, the trailer is gone, and the boat needs a lot of work. I have my phone number on the ad as well, and the phone calls almost trump the emails. I have had numerous calls asking how the boat runs, about the trailer etc... More than once I asked the guy if he read the ad and he responds, No. How do people call and inquire about something without even reading the ad???

When I sold my last boat, the guy said he had been boating for years, very familiar with it. Sold it too him, and a week later he calls me and wants his money back because it leaks bad. This boat was my baby, I guarantee, it didn't leak a drop. Yup, you guessed it - for all his years of experience, he didn't know you have to put the plug in!

You have to put a plug in? Holy Crap that explains it. :)

So what length extension cord should I get for the plug if I'm going offshore?

... OK, I see- this is a steering wheel, this must be a throttle, and where is a brake pedal?...

The steering wheel is on the wrong side. Is this imported from Europe?

Re: unbelivable question asked when selling a boat!

When selling a Kawasaki Ultra 250X earlier this year...

"I want to try it for a month, if I dont like it, can I bring it back?"
This isn't Wal-Mart, no.

"Can you set up a payment plan?"
I'm not a bank, no.

"We just want to see if you'll rent it to us for the weekend."
I'll rent it to you for my asking price.

"I dont want the trailer, can you help me load it in the back of my truck?"
It weighs right around 1100 pounds, no.

"We have a family of five, can we fit on it?"
The ad says 3 seater, you can fit 3 at a time, it's not a clown car.

Geez, and these are just the ones I remember, I finally did sell it to a guy with a functioning brain stem, but had to wade through a lot of you know what to do it.

I love the what's your lowest price question. I always returned the question with whats the most you can pay.

Got an email offering a trade cash+garmin gps+18volt drill.

I have replied back with more than the ad listed. Then they say what the price is listed at, and I go...oh yeah, that was my lowest price, figured I'd save the haggling.;)
