RIP Puddin ... I have an old WWII buddy that was a POW, multiple purple heart recipient, etc. It was only a few years ago that I learned his name was Norman ... everyone always calls him "Lucky."

Sorry about your uncle, TD. My dad flew B-17s out of Italy and Africa. He's almost 84 now. It's sad we can't keep them around forever. If my dad's any example, they really were the Greatest Generation.

But, for now, he and my mom are doing OK. Right now, they're in Alaska, fishing for salmon and halibut with my sister and her husband. Mom caught a 104 lb halibut yesterday. My dad? He caught one that weighed 10 lb. He says that Mom can't go fishing anymore on this trip. :D

Rest in honored peace, Puddin.

I have lost all of my WWII vet relatives, but I will never forget what they, and Puddin, did for us.

Sorry for your loss, TD. My Dad, also a WWII vet is looking forward to his Air Force squadron reunion this year in September. He has some great stories of his bomber wing with the 8th Air Force in England. Still drives and has a sharp mind as well. The wife is thinking there may still be some hope for me!He is always a little saddened after that reunion as less and less of them are able to make it. :(

First, my condolences to you TD, for your loss. It is obvious that you thought a great deal of your uncle.

I watched the video of your uncle and those of a couple of the other vets. As I did, I thought of my own father, who was a 2nd Lt. in the 82nd Airbourne, and jumped in Sicily, North Africa and Normandy. He was also interviewed for Dr. Stephen Ambrose's book about the D-Day invasion.

TD, if you are interested, the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans, has a commemorative brick program. I don't know the cost now, but when I bought one for my Dad about 7 years ago, they were $100. If you buy one, the brick will become part of the sidewalk outside of the museum, and you will receive a very nice "Road To Victory" certificate, which is suitable for framing.

To the Greatest Generation; thanks for all that you gave us, both in times of war and peace.
