I got a 40 hp Johnson 4 stroke in my pontoon, should I buy a bigger engine and re-enforce my pontoon (14' toon), or should I trade my pontoon in for something bigger?
Any ideas!

How fast does it currently run? A 40 on a 14' pontoon should be "enough" power to pull a tube and possibly a wake boarder with a light load on the boat. I assume its a 14x6 or 14x6.5' mini toon as I haven't seen many 14x8' pontoons. Being a 14' foot I pretty sure 40hp is all it will be rated for, and I wouldn't go bigger than that on that boat. I 19' or 20' with a 70-90hp would be enough for either, I pull tubes/wake boards at ~18mph with a full 8 person load behind mine, its just a touch too slow for wake board but it works.

Wouldn't hurt to let us know the prop size(usually on the barrel or under the prop nut),max rpm and speed.
Might be able to do some fine tuning.
