had an overheating problem that is cured . replaced both thermostats. now when i took it out to river today it ran rough at idle and low rpm. seems fine at higher rpm. replaced all 4 plugs and did a compression check all were at about 120-125psi. my questions is when i grounded the plugs the right bank would almost kill the motor but the left bank did not affect it as much. it is deffinately firing but not as strong. where should i start looking. looking at the plugs all were the same but all were covered in oil posible oil mixture problem it does have the vro still hooked up any help would be appreciated

Re: uneven power balance 89 johnson 120

took it back to the river today. still idles rough but only when cold. ran for a few awhile at wot and stopped to check plugs and spark. when hot balance is about the same and plugs look good. compressions when hot about 125-130 all four cylinders. problems seems to be worse after motor sits for a few days.
can parking the boat with the motor tilted up be causing any problems. when we go camping and leave the boat in the water i dont seem to have the same problem or least it is not as noticable.
any suggestions will be appreciated.
happy fourth to all and dont forget the ones who made it possible for the rest of us.
