I have a 1996 evinrude 88 spl on a 22 foot pontoon. Every time I try to go past half throttle It shuts completely down . I have changed stator, power pack, fuel lines, fuel pump, redone both carbs. Still the same.even disconnected temp sensors to check. Still the same. Any help will be greatly appreciated

Have not done compression test. Don't even know what compression is supposed to be.

Sounds like a fuel starvation or ignition short or open circuit. Does it surge before it quits, or does it just stop?

When the engine shuts down, have you checked the spark plug tips? If the tips are wet, it's getting fuel, so it could be an ignition problem. If the plugs are dry, its running out of fuel. Check the anti-siphon valve at the tank. Maybe it has some debris in it that is causing a fuel restriction..

My money is on emdsapmgr. Can't explain it but have seen a lot of tank fuel problems just lately. Simple and cheap test remove the fuel hose from the tank or use another hose and bulb.Fill a gallon milk jug or similar, cleaned of course, with fuel and stick the end of the hose in it. Go for a ride and see if the problem goes away. If it goes away it may be time to clean out the tank and clean or replace the pick up tube. If you dont have a water trap filter fitted this may be a good time to remedy that.

Could not find anything anywhere. Resulted in going to the shop. Thanks for all the responses.
