Hi everyone,
I have a uniden QT206 in dash depth finder that is very intermittent in operation. Everything looks to be in order transducer wise. I just want to replace this thing and start fresh but it seems that my dash was designed around the face size of this unit, the face is 2-3/8". All the new ones I've researched are 2-1/2" and won't fit into the contoured dash of my 2001 stingray 190LX. I'm going to attempt contacting uniden with an old number I found on some instructions but at this point I am under the impression that this unit is no longer manufactured. Looking for recommendations of other units that will have the smaller face diameter to fit into this dash or contact info for whoever bought out uniden. Any ideas please your help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

The face may be 2 3/8" but the hole should be a little smaller. My Hawkeye D10D requires a 2" hole but the face measures 2 1/2"
Even if the new face is 1/8" wider it should fit the contour of your dash.

So for anyone interested I went with a faria in dash unit. It has a face diameter of 2-3/16, fit that tight spot nicely where the 2-1/2 hawkeye and lowrance units wouldn't fit, it made in the USA, has good reviews and has red illumination like my dash. Hopefully it works as good as faria claims.

It was a kit that came with a new 200hz transducer. You can order it with through hull too I think and several different gauge face styles. I called faria tech support, they were very helpful.

Ok GREAT. I'm having issues with a faria Depth finder. through hull tranducer, I finley ordered a new one. "its a new boat to me" Everyhting looked great. But couldn't get it to work. Not to excited about a hull mount transducer.

Can't say I blame you there, I don't think I'd be a fan of having a hole in the bottom of my boat either. On the up side, from what I understand the through hull is supposed to be the most accurate at high speed. I have not had my boat back in the water yet to test my new instrument, once I have an opinion I'll post it.

chilltech, thru-hull mounted transducers doesn't mean you have to drill a hole in the bottom of the hull. The transducer gets epoxied to the hull and it shoots through the hull. So there is zero chance for water intrusion... JFYI...

So it's been a while, just got back from a week on Sebago Lake. The depth sounder works well and reads to my top speed of 52 mph as long as the water is smooth like glass other wise it drops out occasionally but nothing that I would consider objectionable, works continuously in rough water up to about 30 mph. I'm sure it's all transducer position related. I included a pic, it's kinda crappy cuz it was dark but wanted to show the back light.
