United we stand....absolutely

Here on the iBoats forum we can't stand united in religion, or in Jesus, or in politics, or in sexual preference, or in economics, or in hair color.....<br /><br />But we are united in our affiliation within iBoats. We all enjoy these forums, and although people come and go, I wish Chads were still here. And everyone who left because of blood pressure increaseing threads. There have been several regular members who have dissappeared since I joined, some I agreed with and others whom I didn't. But people shouldn't leave this fine group of folks over differences. That should be all the more reason to stay. Sure, I'll never win PlyWoody or MellowYellow over to my way of thinking, but it is still fun and engadgeing to banter with them as friends. <br /><br />Most of us live in the same country, and therfore are countrymen. That means something. I would die and have offered my life up for my countrymen. and women. I am a disabled veteran, but we are all veterans, disabled or not. We are veterans of the American dream.<br /><br />I'll even go so far as to say that Pres. Clinton did an important thing while in office. Something that his supporters on this board have never mentioned. He sent troops ( as he was prone to do) to EastTimor. That was an important step in the war on terror before it was even declared by Bush. East Timor is in Indonisia, the most populuos islamic nation on earth, and we helped stop the wholesale slaughter of Christians by muslims. That was a good thing, and probably the most warranted use of the military during the Clinton administration.<br /><br />Come on guys and ladies. I know that we have differing points of view; but can't we be nice during our dissagreements?? If you don't agree with the gay lifestyle, as I certainly don't, that doesn't mean you have to use words like fag, fairy etc. Because you don't agree with another political view that doesn't warrant an immediate "you're an idiot!" response. <br /><br />Just a though. Hey SW, I try to get along with everybody.<br /><br />I am a passive kind of guy. <br /><br />So what if people call me names. Big deal.<br />That is just showing their intelligence to me.<br /><br />I like everyone on this website, although there are some that I don't agree with, I still like them and treat them as friends.

(group hug) <br /><br />Many who leave just seam to drift off in another direction, however some do leave do to offensive posts and flaming. I have to say if they leave due to a post that offends them there is not much you can do but the flaming does get out of hand on ocasion.

Diversity is good. I don't hold anything against my friends with different views. Usually i have more in common with them (friends, family, activities) than differences I can't control (religion, politics).<br /><br />But it is fun getting into a good debate

We here Canada are effected by U.S. policy on a<br />daily bases. We live just a short piece to the <br />North on the other side of the worlds longest<br />undefended boarder.We have a different accent,as<br />they do in many areas of the U.S.A. Asides from <br />that, we share the same beliefs and have the same<br />aspirations and dreams.<br />We also have political and spiritual division.<br />As acknowledged in many previous threads many here<br />support Bush and U.S. Policy , However we do have<br />our share of Idiots as well. No offense intended!<br />You can find the word in the dictionary, it does <br />have a meaning, if you are offended by it look it<br />up!<br />Back to the original topic. This board has many<br />individuals of different backgrounds and origins<br />all of which will never be able to agree on certain<br />topics. Thats what puts the pizazz into alot of<br />these topics. If we all agreed on the same subject<br />then these conversations would be a tad boring and<br />I for one would likely not participate.<br />Having said that, I too believe some take these<br />threads to heart a way to easily and are offended<br />by different points of view. If one wishes to <br />participate they should try to acquire a little<br />thicker skin and not be offended so easily.<br />Look at Plywoody he is a good example of someone<br />that gets dumped on by opposing views,and he <br />doesn't put his tail between his legs and run away<br />neither should any one else. Debate can be heated<br />and so it should be.

It wasnt my place to preach what I belive in, But, on the flipside, nor is it yours.. Soulwinner hit it right on the head. Its not about ones faith, Sexual prefference, Political views ect ect ect... IT IS about what we have here.. FAMILY. HATE IS NOT A "FAMILY" VALUE. So, Can WE all get along and BOAT together?

Great post SoulWinner,<br />Like I have always thought, I don't agree with everyone one here, but I would go fishing with anyone on this board anytime. Our comon love of boats and activities with boats brought me here and keeps me here. The discussions we have, always enlighten me weather I agree with them or not. Thanks for having me here.
