Hello everyone! thanks for this forum and to all that help each other. Im wondering if anyone can tell me the year and HP for the attached pic of and Eska. This is being shipped to me and I cant see the serial # until it gets here, but I'm gonna need a prop for it. also, maybe a cowling, which is missing. may run without the cowling for now. any help would be appreciated!

thanks for looking. I bought it on ebay for 160 including shipping. not too concerned about the missing cowling, but I will need a prop. guy selling it said it was an eska, but i dont care as long as it runs and i can find a prop. thanks again for helping.

I just got this thing. the serial and model # plates are gone. It does have a tecumseh single cylinder ,engine, and it does run. heres the problem, it is running hot. I dont think it is air cooled because it has no exhaust anywhere, but does have water intake on the foot. I see no stream, so i am assuming whatever it is, it has an impeller and it is not operating. I can take more pics if needed, but I need to determine who manufactured, around what year so i can get a new impeller in and a prop. I really hate to see this little motor
not be in good running condition. Any hel can be appreciated, let me know if anyone needs any other info.

We have a member here and at the yahoo group that has pieces of a relic very similiar to yours, its Canadian made and so is he, Where is Yves Castonguay when we need him eh?. Hello Yves.............
What I would do is disassemble the leg...not the foot, and look for, and ID the impeller buy size, we can surely help you with the impeller if it has one, may have a water pickup tube in which case you don't want to run the engine long with out actually moving through water.

there were several Tecumseh powerd outboards built in Canada, some were built so you could use the power head for a ice auger for winter fishing and then mount it to the handy dandy outboard accessory so you could still get your omega 3's in the summer.

note the skeg.

here's some pics. I did disassemble the head from the shaft (haha). I found the exhaust port, and your right, the holes above the cavitation fin is the air exhaust. Also, I previously put water cooled oil in the mix, so I got chainsaw oil, remixed 32:1 and ran it in a tank with water below the exhaust holes and it ran great, did not over heat, but did get pretty damn hot (assuming because the motor was stationary and no air blowing on it) but did not get too hot. So, looks like its running good now, just one damn thing, what the hell is this?! I found an eska 4.5 prop, but it does not fit. take a look at the pics, the prop shaft is very short, and has threads inside, smooth on the outside. would be a shame i get the power head running good and have no prop to put on it!

those parts look very similar to what I have, especially the skeg. He might be a great resource for finding a prop. thanks

I'm here! I'm here!
It is the hockey playoffs, but I'm not a hockey fan. It's also manifestation season. Montreal street are filled with people mad at our government. An unprecedented action. Very interesting.
As for the unknowned engine, it does look like mine....but....I wonder if it is not bigger!
If the crankcase is halved, then it's a 600 series Tecumseh engine. Could be as old as 1967. A uniblock crankcase means it's an AV600.You should measure the cylinder bore to help with engine size.
I have the microfiche for parts number on a very limited 636 series. It could help.
As for the skeg, it looks huge! The prop I have is pretty shot. It was given along with all the dismantled parts that you see in the pictures. They might not be related. I have been successfull at rebuilding the engine and have it running pretty good. Not water cooled though. Parts are hard to find for rebuilding the engine, but they're there. It took me over two years to find all of them.
I'm still looking for a lower unit. I need to find a cross-reference chart that will help establish for sure if it is a Clinton or an Eska. From then on I'll pursue my quest.

Hey its good to hear from you,
I realise the outboard you have is smaller HP and maybe older but its hard not to see that unique skeg design and it made me kind of set up and take notice also the base plates look similar, thought maybe you had got the low down on it by now...Thanks

we could use a "manifestation" down here in the lower 49 I think...:D

Yves thanks for looking! I should have put something in those pics to show better scale. Im guessing mine is no more that 3 or 4 HP, crankcase is single cylinder, one piece. i found a pic in the forum for an av600 tecumseh, and it was the powerhead for a 1970 eska golden jet 5hp. looks very similar to mine. this is all very helpful, I am narrowing down possibilities in the search for a prop. I have one that I ordered for an eska now that I am trying to manipulate, this thing just has the shortest shaft (thats what she said) that ive ever seen and its threaded on the inside. I wonder if the prop shaft is missing a part?

Good new's , Our good friend Yves Castonguay has ID'ed your outboard and we have a manual.
You Sir have a Triton Industries Arrow outboard, we have a Tecumseh Service bulletin and owners manual and parts diagram for the Triton Arrow @ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/eskaoutboards/
