here is the origonal thread...
http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=17;t=036577

ok, i had 2 motors with bolts in the block. 1 was a tohatsu with a broken cylinder head bolt, that snapped about 3/4" in the hole, i could look in and see the bolt... that one i had to drill out and retap, not pretty but it worked.

the second was a evinrude 50 twin cylinder. trying to remove the water jacket cover/ exhaust cover, i broke the very bottom bolt, snapped off the head.

this one came out much better, and i write this hopping it can be used to help some body else.

i used my angle grinder to grind the edge of the bolt into a square, so my pliers could grip it more like a bolt with a head. second, i used a butane pencil torch and heated the area for about 2 - 3 mins. at first the bolt did nothing. so i sprayed liquid qwrench all over it and reheeated it , did i this about 3 times, then with a pair of simple pliers, unscrewed the bolt and cleaned the threads with my tap and die set.

all is good in the sunshine state today !

i get by with a lil help from my (iboats) friends.

thanks

m ikey
