Tires and wheel alignment do not cause The death wobble, it can make it more pronounce. The problem is still there. Hang on if you hit a bump.

jinx for what it's worth.
I talked to a couple Jeep guys and they say tie rods are the number one culprit of the death wobble.

1600 miles and holding....we'll see.

Yeah, I know, tie rods will be next if it comes back.

Meanwhile, my attention has been diverted to the two utility poles that came down in my yard, along with 2 really big tall trees. Put on quite a light show, as well as melting some 3/8" steel bolts!

Jinx

Thought I'd bump this up and let every one know that it has been 20,000 miles and no death wobble.

Tie rods were ok after all, in this case. But, consensus is that on this particular suspension setup, general wear throughout the vehicle can add up to big problems. That is what makes it so hard to diagnose. Usually, track bar, tie rods and bushings are the likely suspects.

Thanks again to all who answered my post last year. 110,000 on the old girl and still going.

Jinx
