I think that would be a good idea only if it was the boy's idea. If he's being pushed into it by his parents or the court, you're probably going to have problems.

Its not your job to rehabilitate this kid. He has a Father, and now the court system, to help rehabilitate him. I see no obligation on your part to do anything for the kid.

If the court said he needs to pay restitution to you, talk to the detective and tell him what your dollar figure is for pain and suffering and lost recreational and work time. Then he can cut lots and lots and lots of lawns to earn the money to pay your restitution.

After dealing with a teen son of my own and many attorneys in my past, I do my best to stay away from them. To me they are worse than the high price of gas :D.

I think this deal is good. Dental bills paid for, approx $1200 worth of lawn service, and approx $1200 worth of wood. If I had to heat with oil,,,,,,,,OMG 200 gallons a month for 4 months @ 3.18 per gallon (lst time I checked) = $2,544 then probably 100 gallons a month for 3 months during the seasonal change = $954. So the overall total IF I used oil would have been $3,498.00. That is the main reason why I heat with wood and also it is nice to have the house around 75 to 78*. With the oil,,,,,uh,,,,we keep the t-stat set at 72. Also not having to do the lawn myself as well as the wood really makes it nice for me.

He did offer to plow an area for a garden for me if I wanted one, but I"M BOATING THIS YEAR :D :D :D No time to be doing garden work! Thanks again shipmates........SS

We had 3 kids break into a shop I used to work at. one of the moms found a bunch of $$$ in the closet and he came clean with her then she(customer of ours) called the sheriff on all 3 of them. it went through family court and my boss made a deal with the judge to have all 3 work off the damage they did. Man he had them scrapping the floor of the 80 year old shop with a putty knife but he treated them with respect. These kids were always getting into trouble until Doug straightened them out 2 went on to college and good jobs and 1 had drowned in the lake a couple of years later but none got into trouble with the law again. I would give him a chance to make it right with your family.

Let him anywhere near you, him or his parents, and they'll accuse you of something worse, and with no cameras to prove it, it'll be your word against theirs. It is nothing more than a trap. Stay away, stay far, far away from them. Let them PAY restitution through your attorney, and/or do community service somewhere else.
