"UPDATE" Snap in seat pad or high back seat?

Alright guys

Well unfortunately when I went and bought my high back seats for this boat I wasn't thinking about the control box being right there in the way. When I installed the control box I put it right back in its original spot. The seat will not fold down with the control box where it is now and I have no desire to move the control box unless it turns out to be uncomfortable to operate due to my height (I stand 6'2" and have a pretty long arm span). The original design was just a seat pad that snapped in place I believe.

How would you tackle this?
Would you install the seat even though you couldn't fold it down?
Do you think the seat pads would be more comfortable for my height or no?

Snap in seat pad. Best of both worlds.

Geesh TD just what I wanted to here. I asked for it though didn't I?

I have the 2 inch stick on velcro, you're saying that this should hold that control box in place? Or use the velcro on the seat pad? That's all I would want is that control box come off onto my lap while underway. I was hoping that I wouldn't half to move that control box because it mean moving the cigar lighter and trim switch.

DJ I think I'll talk with my uncle to see how much a seat pad in the color material that I need will cost.

And where is my blessed fire extinguisher in that picture , I could of swore I installed it on the boat before that picture. I think it's still on there , I guess I'll half to go and make sure.

velcro on the cushion. put the trim and lighter on the dash.

Yep, the control box needs to planted firm.

I recon I'll move the control box towards the driver's console. Maybe I'll have enough wire to move the cigar lighter and trim switch to the dash, everything is bundled up in the wire harness now . I'll see about getting velcro on the seat pads when I get them made.

I just love them control boxes . When the snow clears up I know what I got to do with the boat. Just started snowing today and in all honesty I hope it doesn't stop any time soon lol.

Well, I got the controls moved forward. Being it is such a small area to work with I was only able to move it forward 5 to 6 inches at the most, if I moved it to far forward it would interfear with the steering wheel while moving to full throttle. I also lowered it down some, at least to where the to two bolts on the backside of the control box can be accessible if needed. I even set one of the high back seats in and set down to check the comfort zone out and it seemed to be alright. After sitting down my right leg is right up against the control box but should interrupt any lever action. If I decided to go with the high back seat at any point, I checked it out after moving the control box and it will fold down with no problem.

Still haven't checked to see how much it would cost to have a seat pad made up. I was able to leave the trim switch in the same place but moved the cigar lighter below the trim switch, the control box does cover the old lighter hole up quiet nicely. If I knew it wouldn't hurt the stability or structure of the boat I would of cut a spot out and fiberglassed a new "pocket"/indentation for the control box to fit into where the control box wouldn't be sticking out like a sore thumb.

I didn't get any pictures due to the fact that the boat was mostly covered up, but I'll get some more pics after this next snow storm moves through maybe. I got a little bit done today though , I haven't worked on that boat like that in a while.

then you would have to totally change controls to a consealed control, made to go behind the panel.
