never never run water thru engine without it running, as if you do have a small gasket leak in your elbow water will run in do to no exhaust pressure to keep water out. I learned a lesson . Changed plugs and oil twice and fogged my new neighbors house with a cloud of smoke as wind decided to change on me,oops. Windows open. Started it up and it ran for a hour no problems .while i waited for wind to change just in case it decided to blow out more smoke i tore my gauges out and cleaned the terminals up,since no gauges worked, all decided to work after that except amp gauge which took a tap an face to get it going. tach would not work so pulled the washer off of coil wire behind tach so it would go in farther and make contact and it started working as the washer was holding bottom of screw from making contact with terminal in side. anyways checked oil great no water ,will change it again this weekend as i want to put in 40 wt. instead of 30 wt. and new filter. will mount outdrive tomorrow ,have never done that so we will see. i have a dolly cart i am going to make into drive stand and try to use that to mount it up. pressure tested and it has held pressure at 15 lbs for two weeks . will replace manifold and riser assembly this fall if i go back to work just got laid off as a machinist this week, one week before vacation. wiil test in on river this week but river is getting low so i wont be going to far.

Re: "UPDATE" to running on hose

it is in the 70s now but it is supposed to go into 90s next week and a little thicker oil wont hurt, my engine decal says that too.
