If there was a lot of water that got in the carb, that may be the problem. Check the oil again, if it's milky, change it again with a NEW filter. Once u get it running it will probably need to be changed again once the new oil circulates with the water in the engine parts. Make sure all electrical connections such as the coil, distributor, [inside and out] are dry. And go easy with the starting fluid, the **** is not good for an engine.

you will have to dry the ignition system as well as drain th carb. Did water get into the gasoline tank?? Drain the tank and lines, add new fuel filter/s as well...sl

you need to worrry about your starter,trim system and everything electric if i understand you correctly they were submerged ?<br /><br />if this is true they will be dammaged if there not taken apart cleaned and dryed<br /><br /><br />tommays

UPDATE.<br /><br />I flushed about 2 1/2 gallons of water out of oil.Cleaned Starter and Carb.Carb really need it to concidering it was new before I drowned out the engine. I checked Distributor cap no water. I pulled plugs and cranked engine.I installed new plugs, oil filter, and oil.I check gas and no water was in it. I started engine and it had trouble running at IDLE but I was able to run it at about 1000 RPM and 160 degrees after that I could drop it back to idle.exhaust looked fine.I ran it for about 10 minutes. Next I will change oil and filter 2 more times and run engine on some ATF and seafoam to be safe. I will probably have to replace my altenator and starter eventually. I will give another update later.

Glad to hear you got it running again. I had a similar incident happen when I forgot to put the drain plug in the back of the boat.<br /><br />The one time I didn't walk around the boat is when it happened. We were wondering why the back of the boat looked like it was lower. The whole engine compartment was full! After that, the trim motor failed so I had to have that rebuilt. The starter was fine, but I wouldn't be surprised if it dies one of these days.<br /><br />Mike
