Here are some early pics of the 2400BRX under construction straight and fresh from Checkmate.

Hull just needs stringer system in it, and will be leaving it in the mold to sit over weekend...will be pulling it Monday.

Will post more pics once it's out of mold. It will be rigged for Mercury (Optimax 300xs). I am scurrying to find a setback bracket that adds 8-10" of engine setback and want to have it shipped to Checkmate. From the outboard non-repair forum here, someone suggested Bob's. Feel free to chime in here if there is anything else to consider for rigging. Feedback appreciated regarding the rigging part (in case I miss something).

Looking up Bob's now..

Any decent dealer with a good relationship should be able to get pics. I saw pics of a Checkmate build they did for a guy who wanted a BRX design that they hadn't done in 4-5 years. The bow was less spacious and the dash went straight across without a walk-thru, but that's how he wanted it.

They still had the mold and the guy wanted the older style, so they built it. They sent him dozens of pics and he proudly posted them.

Thanks!

Always ran used boats... always felt guilty for spending money on boating (Catholic guilt from my parents and grandparents - LOL), but this time I am trying to enjoy it, so getting them to send pics or customize this or that is enjoyable.

That's gonna be a beautiful boat!... I had a 16' Checkmate with a 115HP Yamaha on it and loved every minute of it, very smooth ride, great handling, and pretty to look at! I'll bet a hydraulic jack plate would be nice for a few more MPH and MPG....of course it would cost more than the set-back bracket, but would really help performance! Good Luck!:)

A few Hail Mary's, couple of Our Father's, and attend confession ............. oh yeah some extra cash in the collection basket and it will be forgiven.

Wow looking great! More photos when they are available Please.

It's gonna be a long winter for you, waiting to splash the new boat. I hope we see you in the Chesapeake come spring.

I considered it and inquired here, too. Also, I checked with other Checkmaters on their forum, and while there were mixed feelings as to the value, it became apparent that setback is the real desirable. Wildman is a well-known dealer in Florida who lives to squeeze performance out of is custom rigged Checkmates (sort of like the Yenko is to Chevy as Wildman is to Checkmate), and he just uses setbacks.

The Hyd. jackplace is 2 grand; setback is about 350 bucks. The dealer will dial the boat in and adjust the motor height for all out performance. The dealer is a high-performance boat dealer. I also feel good leaving off one more mechanical thing (hyd pump, motor, etc).

Very nice, Philster. I really like red on a go-fast. I could smell the styrene opening the photos. Cool!

That's very cool, there was a period of time in the early 80's (showing my age here), where when you ordered a new Searay, you could go to Knoxville and witness it being built, followed by an in water trial. I had a friend who did this on his 24' bowrider and customized the boat as it came down the line (added a couple of extra glass holders, different stereo etc). I think they will still do that on their bigger boats and I think Regal was doing the same.

You can do that with Checkmate.

Wow, these guys at Checkmate are awesome. The 10" setback jackplate from Bob's Machine Shop is on its way for rigging on Monday. I let them know it was coming.

Here are some more build pics from today:

Bob's was great. Checkmate has been very accessible.
