Phil, be sure to let us locals know when and where you plan to take her for the maiden voyage. I'll try to come along to take pictures from the water (although probably from the back since I won't be able to keep up.)

When I launch down that way it's usually from Salem Creek, across the Delaware. Great FREE ramp.

Mine is free... for me anyway. Helps that it's only five mins from my driveway. I guess you'd have to pay, being y'aint local.

So... you cut across and run the C&D? Salem Creek is where you launch to boat the Upper Chessie? That area gets glowing reviews.


Edit: Hey... you skip the bridge toll, too. Nice.

Absolutely and thanks! I'd say the C&D launching out of Delaware City - Date/Time to be determined. Anywhere along the C&D as I plan to barrel down that in short order after launching.

Just got a great idea when reading this! Let us know your launch date and we will all join you. We will take all our boats and surround you in a big circle, like a bubble. That way no ther boats can even get close to you and keeping you perfectly safe.

Although the downside is that you will only be able to go as fast as the slowest one of us.

All kidding aside, I would love to be there for the main voyage and would snap some pics for you too. Maybe we should arrange for a helicopter to keep up with you

WOW!! Excellent looking boat! I love the Checks, and the fact that they use outboard power still for the most part. Slick looking boat! I'm jealous!!

I've launched from Salem creek a couple of times to run out to Chesapeake City for lunch. If I'm headed for the upper bay I usually trailer to Northeast to save on boat gas.

That is some serious eye candy right there. I wish we had a boat market with the quality that you have over there.
Now if only I could find a container big enough to bring one over here, I don't think i'd trust a ro-ro service with something as nice as that.

Congrats mate, just make sure that you don't do the whole "break the bottle of champagne over the bow as it slide off the trailer" or it may need a good wash afterwards

Yes, but 8'6" beam will not fit in a container. That's why the Ro-ro comment.

Oz is the place that is booming. My dealer has Oz down to a science, with great results and a growing base. The other big Checkmate dealer, Randy "Wildman" Corson, in Florida ships 'Mates and Liberator cats to Oz regularly after custom paint and rigging. The container is hardly an issue. My Scarab almost went to Oz.

Cars costing way more than boats roll on and off all day!
