I just bought a boat with a '96 Force 90 HP. How hard would it be to replace it with similar vintage Force 120 HP? Mounting brackets, steering, controls, fuel lines, etc.

About as easy as it gets, as long as you have a hoist or lift to do the hard lifting. Everything should hook right up.

I would recommend verifying that the transom and hull are rated for such a large motor if it only had a 90HP on it before.

I have a 96 force 120 with stainless prop on an 18-ft. bass boat and it pushes it about 55mph. How fast do you want to go?:D

If you upgrade, are you trading the 90 in or selling it? I would be interested in the 90 depending on where you are located.

It is on a 20' hurricane. It goes nowhere near that fast. Especially pulling a skier or tube with 3 or 4 people on board. Closer to 30 mph with only a couple of people on board, and maybe 25 mph when dragging someone behind me. It is not a light boat. The engine runs good. Turning about 4800 rpm at WOT. I am in Connecticut.
