upgrade ignition on omc 5.0

I suspect that I will need to replace the advance weights on my 86 omc. Should I take this opportunity to upgrade to an electronic ignition? If so, what are my options?

You can replace the points with a pertronix type system but that doesn't change out the advance weights. Only way to get rid of those is to get a fully electronic ignition system which means a whole new distributor. You are probably talking over $300 for such a kit.
