I am new to the site but have a question. I have a 22ft Bass tracker pontoon that has a 40hp merc on it now. They are both 1994 models. I want to upgrade the motor and have found a 1994 90hp force that I can trade for my motor plus 700.00. i have been told that the force is not a good motor and not up to the rigors of pushing a pontoon boat. Any suggestions? thanks for your help.

What is your toon rated for?

Hi Tom, Welcome to the site! JB's question is the one you need to fiind out. What is your boat rated for? Look for a Coast Guard plate/sticker somewhere near the steering wheel. If the hull is rated for a 40hp or even up to 50hp, a 90hp isn't going to work no matter what the make. Not really a question of if it will work, it's more hull design & potential legal issues too.

BTW/ their are plenty of Force O/B's on pontoon boats. Do a search here on Force motors. May change what you've heard about them.
